How the RV Poopchute Started
In August of 2017, my husband and I were in Santa Rosa, CA on our first RV trip. We travel around the United States selling our RooSport running products for our business. As hotel and air prices started going through the roof, we purchased an RV and decided we would try traveling this way for our business to save money.
We were getting ready to leave our RV Park in Santa Rosa, Ca. and our particular RV model has a sliding glass door. I was sitting on my couch and I was watching the man next to us dump his sewer tank. After watching him as he was dressed in boots and gloves to dump his tank, he then attempted to clean out his hose and clean up the RV site, I thought to myself… There has got to be a better way to do this.
Being from the era of platex bottle liners with our six children, I had a thought. If I could create a liner for the sewer hose, it would be much easier to drain the tanks, and then dispose of the liner, creating a cleaner faster way to dump.
We got several plastic bags together and cut and taped them together with Duct Tape to create a liner. After several revisions we came up with a plastic liner that is thick enough to insert through the hose and hold up during use, but not too thick to impede the flow. Here is how you line your hose now!
As of January 2021 we have been using this method for 3 ½ years and 40,000 miles in our Grand Design Fifth Wheel. Our sewer hoses look and smell new as you can see in the video. We can store it any of our underneath compartments because there is no smell. Start to finish with no mess or fuss!
